Jewett City Little League is a volunteer-driven organization. Our league depends on families to help support game-day operations, field upkeep, and special events. Your participation helps keep registration costs affordable and ensures a safe, fun experience for all players.

Volunteer Expectations
Each team is responsible for providing volunteers throughout the season. Volunteer needs may include:

• Concession stand coverage
• Field maintenance and prep
• Special events and league activities

Team Managers and Team Parents will help coordinate volunteer assignments and communicate schedules.

Concessions
The concession stand is a key part of our game-day experience and a major source of revenue for the league. 
Each team will be assigned concession stand shifts during the season. Families are expected to participate unless they selected the non-volunteer option during registration.

What to Expect

• Arrive 15 minutes before your shift
• On-site instructions will be provided
• Assist with food prep, serving, and cleanup
• Follow all posted safety and food-handling guidelines

If you cannot attend your scheduled shift, you are responsible for finding a replacement and notifying your Team Manager.

Field Maintenance & Prep
Volunteers are needed throughout the season to help maintain safe and playable fields.
Typical tasks include:

• Raking and leveling the infield
• Dragging fields
• Lining baselines and batter’s boxes
• General cleanup and upkeep

Opportunities for field work days and additional help will be communicated during the season.

Non-Volunteer Fee (FAQ)

What is the non-volunteer fee?
During registration, families have the option to pay a non-volunteer fee instead of participating in volunteer duties.

If I paid the fee, do I still need to volunteer?
No. Families who select the non-volunteer option are not required to complete volunteer shifts.

If I did NOT pay the fee, what is expected?
Families who did not select the non-volunteer option are expected to participate in assigned volunteer activities, including concession shifts.

Can I still volunteer if I paid the fee?
Yes! Volunteers are always welcome, and additional help is appreciated.

What happens if I miss a shift?
If you are unable to attend your assigned shift, you must arrange for a replacement. Repeated missed shifts may impact future volunteer eligibility or team responsibilities.
